24 Azure Translate

20210524

Package: aztranslate.

How many languages do you understand and/or speak? You may have heard that AI has become quite competent at translation. However, the AI usually does the translation with little understanding of what it is translating, but it can get things basically correct. This MLHub package demonstrates what state-of-the-art AI can do with language translation.

The aztranslate package utilises Azure’s Cloud Services to perform translation of text to/from many different languages.

To install, configure, and demonstrate the package:

ml install aztranslate
ml configure aztranslate
ml readme aztranslate
ml commands aztranslate
ml demo aztranslate

In addition to the demo command the package also supports the commands translate, supported, and limits.

Azure-based models, unlike the MLHub models in general, use closed source services which have no guarantee of ongoing availability and do not come with the freedom to modify and share. This cloud based service also sends your data to Azure for analysis.
